Praise and worship preceded the birth of our Savior. We read in Luke 1:26–28 how God sent the angel Gabriel to a virgin named Mary. The very first word from Gabriel was “Rejoice,” which is the Greek word chairo and means: cheer, happy, hail, joy, and rejoice.
Luke 1:31–33, where Gabriel addressed Mary, fills me with joy and amazement: “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom, there will be no end.”
Is not the One who reigns forever and ever worthy of this kind of praise and worship?
Do you feel this kind of praise and worship tugging on your heart to lay all hesitancy down, to say “No more” to apathy and complacency, to absolutely give your all to the only One who is worthy of our passionate and persistent praise and worship?
Rejoice! What a fun-filled, expressive word that causes smiles on our faces. May we allow the joy of Jesus to fill us to overflowing so we cannot help but spread His joy to all with whom we come in contact.

May your words, *to lay all hesitancy down, to say “No more” to apathy and complacency, to absolutely give your all to the only One who is worthy of our passionate and persistent praise and worship* describe God’s redeemed people this Christmas season and expand in our hearts throughout 2024! Thank you for your insightful post.
Amen… and thank you Mama Lava.
Merry Christmas!
